200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training in Bali. The mere phrase brings many things into the hearts of many! It sounds like a lot of hours to commit, and anyway, isn’t Yoga Teacher Training only for advanced yogis who aspire to stand on their heads and meditate for 25 hours a day?
Nop!
When I attended my first Yoga Teacher Training Course (yoga TTC) in 2014 with Deep, I had not been practicing yoga for a year, and prior to that had only been taking regular classes for around half a year. I wondered if I would be able to keep up with the rest of the class. There were so many yoga poses I hadn’t even heard of. Meditation – zero experience. What if I fail! Oh, the horror!
From conversations with friends and having attended and assisted in many 200 hour yoga teacher training in Bali these past few years, I found that I was not alone in my fears. There were many others who shared the same previous doubts and fears I had. So if you’re considering signing up for a yoga teacher training course in Bali but are having reservations, here is a short list of the things I wished I knew back then:
1. Your level of experience doesn’t really matter.
Yoga is a highly individualized process. Therefore, in a yoga TTC, everyone grows at different rates. A good yoga school would be able to cater to students of all levels. Attending a yoga TTC is not so much about improving your physical fitness, it’s about learning the basics of yoga alignment, and exploring your connection with yourself and those around you through the yogic philosophies.
2. Yoga Teacher Training is not only for aspiring yoga teachers.
Contrary to its title, yoga TTC does not only focus on the teaching aspect. A large part of the course is dedicated to personal understanding and experience of yoga. Most students who attend yoga TTC do so to deepen their own personal practice, and do not have any intention to teach yoga. It’s an added bonus if you eventually decide to teach!
3. 200 hours sounds like such a long time!
Initially, it may seem like a lot of time to commit, but in fact, you will be having so much fun learning and interacting with others that time just whizzes by. And it is a small sacrifice compared to the life-changing knowledge and experiences you get in return! After 200 hour yoga teacher training in Bali are done, most people feel like they have just barely skimmed the surface of yoga, and even advanced practitioners walk away with a whole new perspective on their practice!
4. The goal is – there is no goal.
You don’t have to be able to perform advanced yoga poses when the course is over! Yoga is a constant learning process. As you evolve, so will your practice. It really depends on what you want to get out of your practice. Some want to be able to do advanced inversions. Some want to go deeper into meditation. Some just want to learn to utilize yoga for health. That being said, the yoga school you choose to sign up with should resonate with you and the direction in which you would like to grow.

5. Indis is not the only place you can learn true yoga from!
With 200 hour yoga teacher training in Bali being the latest buzzword, There are many yoga schools have all around the globe. There are Indian teachers who travel internationally to conduct yoga TTCs, but there are also many teachers of other nationalities who are well-equipped yoga teacher trainers. Be sure to do your homework. Is the yoga teacher trainer you intend to study with someone who admire not only as a teacher, but as a person? Does their methodology, style of teaching and outlook on life resonate with you?
When all is said and done, sometimes you just have to go with your gut feeling. When the time is right, you will know it!
