ABOUT YOGA DEEP

DEEP YOGA PSYCHOLOGY

Yoga Is the most intelligent solution of All Human Problems

Just mention the word ‘Yoga’ as a part of the discussion and you will come to know that everyone has something to say about it. Isn’t it is a wonder how a five-thousand-year-old lifestyle from India is influencing almost every person, who is conscious about health, happiness or finding a deeper meaning of life.

What is yoga? One of the oldest definitions available in Indian scripture, ” Patanjali Yoga Sutras” describes Yoga as a cessation of mind or we can say that Yoga means living in the present moment. Our mind is always either projecting into the future or reliving the past. We are never in touch with life and life is always happening in the present.

In the yogic system, there are eight steps to achieve that stage famous as “Eight Limbs of Yoga”. They are:

1)Yama (Directing the life towards goodness)
2)Niyama( Giving discipline to yourself)
3)Asana ( Postures – to create a healthy body )
4)Pranayam ( Breathing techniques to expand the life force)
5)Pratyaahar ( be with your body and breath)
6)Dharna( Concentration of mind on an object)
7)Dhyan ( Meditation means to be here and now without object)
8)Samadhi (living every moment of life with joy)

So If you ask me what is yoga, yoga is a method to enjoy life. The whole of the human race through the course of civilization has always been engaged in the pursuit of only one thing; a healthy body, a peaceful mind and a cheerful heart to live this life joyfully.

Yoga gives you the key to discover this freedom, the wings to soar high on your journey to self-discovery and joy.

Freedom is the essential message of yoga.

Yogis have discovered three levels of freedom physical, psychological and then comes the ultimate freedom.

1)Physical level

When your body is healthy, your joints are moving into every direction, muscles are strong and flexible. All systems of the body are working well, then that is physical freedom. You will be able to enjoy the pleasure of life only then when your body is healthy. Yoga postures (Physical exercises) are designed to give you this. Yoga postures have different categories and they have profound physical and psychological benefits.

1) Hip openers And Core yoga pose – Now according to Yogic psychology, we hold or repress emotions in our Hips and stomach and that is the reason for many physical troubles in the body. When we start opening and strengthening them, we start releasing our negative emotions.

2) Backward bend yoga postures can help you to come out from depression. They allow a person to open the front of the body and straighten the back very gracefully. The depressed person tend to hunch the back. Modern psychology agrees that if you can change your posture you can change your mind.
3) Forward bends are a well-known therapy for anxiety in yoga. In these yoga poses, your heart comes parallel to the ground. A beautiful surrender to the gravitation of Mother Earth. Child poses are special position of yoga which resembles like a child in a mother’s womb. According to yogis, that is the most relaxing position and when you stay in that position for a period of time, unconsciously we shift into a state of childhood. That’s why it becomes easier to go deeper into relaxation.
4) Arm balancing poses to stabilize the emotions and give confidence in life. Once you can support your body on your hands, it’s a sign that you are capable to present your ideas to the world. You are well capable to handle yourself. We look for all kinds of support in life. Physically, emotionally, you can take the charge in your hand but with love, not with any fight or competition.
5) Inversion (upside down like headstand ) these postures have amazing benefits and yogis always lay a lot of emphasis on them. This is because, when a person is standing on two feet but bored or with no vision in life or is not living a very juicy life. But in an inverted pose, a person has to stand on the head, completely opposite to his normal form; and this changes his whole chemistry and also his whole vision. After a time of practice of these yoga poses, we can change our whole attitude towards life.
6) Twisting postures Have you done any twist? Try it when you are stuck in your life and not able to decide what to do. Yogis have a solution; regular practice of twisting postures moves the stagnant energy in the spine and helps to give you a healthy change in the body and life too. Spine is the main channel of life. In the yogic system, we determine the age of a person not by a number of years but by how flexible his spine is. If your spine can move easily into all its six directions; forward, backward, sideward, twists, then even if you are 100 years old, you are young. And if you cannot, then even if you are 20, you are old. So maintain a healthy spine, my dear friends

7) Psychological Level

Pranayam ( Yoga breathing) – Breath is the most important part of human life. It’s your very life force. If you know how to use your own breath, it can be a great healing power for body and mind. It’s the breath, which is like a string holding the body, mind, and energy (life force) together. Yoga breathing techniques are a great way to discover all the possibilities of human super strength.

Yogic psychology says that when your mind is free from the fear of future and the guilt of the past, you gain natural happiness within you. You can live and enjoy in the present moment; that is what is psychological freedom. Yoga breathing techniques give an understanding of mind too. Yogis have discovered that if you stop your breath and look inside you, you will find your thoughts will also stop. Simply put, you can control your mind by controlling your breath

1. Ultimate Freedom
Now, what is the ultimate freedom? In the yogic understanding of life, we all are dependent on outer situations to make ourselves happy. We put so many conditions on life; that life should be like this or I should have this. But if we look at our life and the lives of all others, we have found only pain, suffering, stress, violence; all geared to destroy humanity. Where is the joy? Yoga emphasizes that we are looking in the wrong direction. Joy and happiness is a state of positive mind which we need to find in ourselves. Once we know and have experienced that nobody in life can make us happy or sad, we rely on that it lies in our hands. So now we are ready to take complete responsibility for our life, rather than blaming the situations or others. We now seek to find our joy with our truth and authenticity. That is maturity in the yogic tradition. Meditation which is the 7th step of yogic science gives us that freedom.

My dear friends, yoga has not been well presented in the world. Now is the time to recognize the benefits of yoga on all levels. West has given birth to outer science and East has given birth to the inner science. Yoga is pure inner science that can change your body, mind-heart. It can guide you towards such an amazing life that one day you can say, “Yes am Free and ready to share my freedom and love with the whole world. Namaste!
